According to the GPCI, it aims to evaluate and rank those major cities based on their ability on attracting people, capital investment, and businesses from all over the world. London has achieved a top 5 ranking for many sectors including Research and Development (R&D), Cultural Interaction, Accessibility and Economy.
Throughout 2021, when tourist levels have decreased in all countries, London has maintained its highest ranking for 14 consecutive years since the establishment of GPCI in 2008.
The index also ranks countries according to their attractiveness to people in different functions. London was ranked for the most attractive for corporate executives, highly-skilled workers and tourists.
With significant improvement in Liveability and Environment and the balance in other functions, London managed to rank first place among other countries, proving its remarkable international competitiveness.
